Becoming Supernatural: How Common People Are Doing the Uncommon

by Joe Dispenza

In “Becoming Supernatural,” Joe Dispenza explains the positive effects of spiritual practices such as meditation, mindfulness, and visualization on the body and mind, drawing on the latest findings from neuroscience, epigenetics, and quantum physics.

Essentially, he argues that thoughts are chemical reactions and electromagnetic waves that influence the physical structure of our brain and body. Deliberately changing our thoughts can induce mystical experiences and positively influence physical reality and our well-being.

Nowadays, it’s scientifically proven that meditation and mindfulness have long-term positive effects on the body and mind – so I have no criticism in this regard.

However, the book contains only a few practical instructions on meditation and breathing techniques – for more advanced meditation techniques, the reader is referred to the author’s paid offerings.

Furthermore, the author excessively promotes his workshops and seminars, where participants allegedly experience phenomenal consciousness expansion and spontaneous healing. The author attempts to substantiate these claims with scientific arguments, but critics consider these explanations speculative and pseudoscientific.

Overall, I found the book to be a positive, interesting, and inspiring read. I believe that many people have untapped potential within them. However, a large portion of the content should be critically questioned. Ultimately, everyone must decide for themselves what they take from this book and what they don’t.
